The 6:45 wake-up call came way too soon. We dressed and picked through the items on our continental breakfast prior to catching our shuttle. For some reason the shuttle only stops at Terminals 1, 2 and 3. When we were dropped at Terminal 2 our driver showed us where we needed to pick up the airport shuttle to Terminal 4. We thought the driving in circles on our way to the hotel yesterday was bad. This shuttle ride was worse. We finally arrived at our terminal 40 minutes after we left our hotel. Call me crazy but it shouldn’t have taken that long to get here from a hotel that is only a couple of miles away. I got my VAT refund form filled out and mailed prior to a painless check-in. We boarded right away. Well, we thought we were boarding. We were actually getting on another bus that took us out to the plane. This is where we started encountering the “stupid people.” The first were a handful of folks who couldn’t understand the carry-on size limits. Next was a guy who tried to put a 2” by 2” tube that had to be 4’ long into the overhead bin. He seemed so surprised when the flight attendant explained to him that he couldn’t stow it there. The flight was full and a family of four had to be split. A man behind me offered to move so at least the two children could sit together. This was fine until the couple behind Steve, who would now be sitting next to the volunteer, objected. Their complaint was that instead of sitting next to a child they now had to sit next to an adult and that he would be a hindrance. Talk about selfish.
